Steve Detrick Endorsed by Republican Party

The Sacramento County Republican Central Committee, which represents Elk Grove, voted 25-1 to endorse Steve Detrick for Elk Grove City Council, making Detrick the only Republican-endorsed candidate in the race. The vote was ratified by the California Republican Party.

At the endorsement meeting, concerns were raised about ethical issues surrounding incumbent Mike Leary.

"Our primary interest is to support Republican candidates who will represent the Republican Party well and make a positive difference in the community," said Matt Hedges, who chairs the Endorsement Committee of the Central Committee. "In this case, the choice was clear."

"I believe in open and transparent government. I am pro-business and will make sure that government does not stand in the way of economic growth. I am a public-safety candidate and believe that the most important role of government is to protect law-abiding citizens from crime. Those are the reasons I received this endorsement", Detrick said.
